This Guide will help you prepare for the game. Make sure you read your section carefully. You should also be generally familiar with what the other players are doing.
Social Media
It is ok to use cellphones and ipads during the game. You can call, text and take video and pictures. You can also use social media to gain an advantage!
What?
Your team can earn an Unconventional Warfare attack by posting about the game on social media.
How?
To qualify, every person on your team must make 1 post about the game. Each player must show the post to Event Staff- CINC to get credit.
When?
You can do this once in the morning and once after lunch.
Room Layout
You are NOT allowed to freely wander the game room. Each player has certain areas they can be in. ALL areas NOT specified in your player’s guide are OFF LIMITS.
Cheating
Event Staff will notify you of a rules violation and record it. These violations accrue and damage your nation’s intelligence network. They make your nation vulnerable to various clandestine operations.
President
Duties
You job is to coordinate all of your teams efforts into an overall strategy for your nation. You must lead and direct your team. The President is also in charge of Building.
Each turn, Presidents Should:
- Give Trader targets for debt levels, resources to obtain for each turn, trade embargos / strategy.
- Give General resource chips for attacking, new troops to deploy, military targets and objectives.
- Give Diplomat objectives and goals for alliances and relations.
- Then Build:
It takes both money and resources to build new forces. The cost to build is as follows:
$300 BL + 1 set | 3 Armies and/or Navies |
$500 BL + 1 min | 1 ICBM |
$1,000 BL + 2 min | 1 ABM |
You must research tech before you can build ICBMs and ABMs.
You can also research new Companies. Each card turned over costs $200 BL. 3 attempts per turn.
5. Announce any / all Siezures and / or Blockades.
Where You Can Go
The President can be at his Nation table. He can travel to the UN to make a brief speech / announcement. He must be accompanied by his Diplomat at all times while doing so.
Strategy Tips
You are the central communication hub for your team. Remember that most of your team is isolated at their tables. Unless you tell them, they likely do not know what is going on with the rest of the team. It is your job to keep everybody in the loop and keeping them working together towards a common goal.
To win, your team must be aggressive.
The biggest mistake new players make is to just sit, build and watch for awhile. This is the surest way to fall behind and lose! You must expand aggressively and build your economic power base.
The best way to make points is to get new Factory Cards. Even better is to take them from other nations. This makes them drop in points as you go up.
Diplomat
Duties
You are responsible for all foreign relations
Diplomats Should:
- Represent and explain your nations
Where You Can Go
Your primary office is at the UN. You can also travel to ANY nation table at ANY time.
Strategy Tips
You are the link to the outside world. You are the only player that can travel and visit other nations. You can freely talk with any player at their Nation table. Other nations likely won’t know things unless you tell them.
You are also in a perfect position to act as a Spy. What do you overhear and see as you travel around the room? This is intelligence gathering. Take good notes. What disinformation can / should you spread? What do you need to keep secret and how can you do that? Remember that your silence also speaks.
General
Duties
You are responsible for the military defense of your nation: All movement, combat, counter attacks, etc. It will help if you are familiar with the basic combat system of Supremacy.
Each turn, Generals Should:
- Request the amount of resources you want to move and attack with from your President.
- Request the amount of New Forces (armies, navies, ICBMs, ABMs) you want the President to Build.
Where You Can Go
Your primary HQ is at the War Room. You can also travel back to YOUR Nation table.
Strategy Tips
Remember that you are not alone. Don’t be afraid to ask the Event Staff at the War Room if you are unsure of how combat works. Tell them what you want to do. They can help show you how to accomplish that within the rules.
Concentrate to gain a numerical superiority. Strike where you have the advantage. You can’t defend everything, everywhere. You must pick and choose your battles.
Trader
Duties
You are responsible for managing your nations money and economy. Traders can take out loans and buy bonds. You must pay all salaries and handle all trades.
Each turn, Traders Should:
- Pay salaries for all your nations forces and factories.
- Pay / collect interest on all loans / bonds.
- Trade to acquire the most amount of resources for the least cost.
- Give all resources to the President at the conclusion of trading.
Where You Can Go
Trading Pit and your home nation table.
Strategy Tips
Your position as a Trader is critical to your team’s success. Your nation’s power comes from its strong economic base. You must make every penny count. You must also work to make your enemy’s economy weak.
The key to trading is buy low, sell high. Make sure you produce enough of each resource to build. You need even sets: 6 min, 6 oil, 6 grn. Having weak production in 1 resource will make your economy vulnerable. Avoid this for your nation but seek to create a shortage in other nations.
Make note of the best ways to damage other nation’s economy. Is most or all of their production in a resource located in a few factories? One area or region? Let your President know. These could make great targets for military strikes. You must cooperate together as a team to win.
Do you have event host guidelines for someone wanting to run this?
